NGC 3372 - Eta Carinae Nebula

An evergreen object for you down-unders, a dream for us in Italy.

This is an image shot from the wonderful Namibian skies. I’m very satisfied by the rendition of this nebula. As in all very bright nebulas (like M42), it is always difficult to render all the image dynamic range. I was already very glad with the first imaging of it in 2007, but my setup and skill improved and the second time I succeeded to render it much better.
I hope you like it, comments and criticism always welcome!

Lovely image Nicola - beautiful detail. Love the star field, sharp to the edges. Colours are really nice - lovely reds. My only comment is whether you could get more detail out of the nebula with a little more contrast in the mids? But that's a matter of taste. Look forward to more.

Thanks a lot to all of you who replied.

Craig: you are right, contrast could be boosted on the midtones. Coming from film astrophotography I can't get used to higher contrast, all my processing ends up always that smooth

This sure is a very often imaged object here, but this is an uncommonly good rendition of it!! It's certainly much better than your original version. Great FOV and colour. Well done!

Cheers, Marcus

Thanks also to strongmanmike, marc4darkskies and Paul Haese

@marc4darkskies: I'm very glad to give you a new "perspective" of your very much imaged object.

It is a dream that can easily become true, you must do that at least once.
