LX200 R/A adjuster failed.

Hey Guy's and Gal's.

Can anyone help me with a problem on my New LX200.

The R/A manual adjuster knob failed.
It has an up and down movement of about a quarter of an inch, and there is no engagement of the gears to slew the telescope.

I have contacted Bintel, but I don't really want to send it back to Sydney.
One of the Guy's from Bintel will be at Lostock, but may not want to get involved in doing repairs, I understand that, as I wouldn't want to either.

Don reckons, it's a 5 minute job, so if I can do it myself, I would appreciate some instructions on how to fix it.

I can certainly wait until Lostock, if someone will help me fix it. but I would rather get it fixed before that.

Eagerly awaiting your replies.

Mike.

This might help. http://www.astronomysite.com/mapug/22/msg22662.htm describes RA lock and a couple of set screws. This may be your problem.
Other than that http://www.sfaaa.com/content/view/20/71/ shows some major surgery. if not try googling for "Lx200 disassembly", "LX200 RA lock repair" or something similar.

Just be careful that any "home-made" repairs don't void your warranty! I'd explore the fix at Lostock if one of the Bintel boys are coming.

I've just had an email from Don at Bintel, one of his guy's has pulled out some spares and will fix it for me during the weekend.

Thank you Don and Michael.
