Altocumulus Lenticularis Cloud.

Well we have had enough of clouds,I know.

But very late this afternoon, there was some interesting light, and I saw these

clouds,and had to get my 50D and 17-55 F 2.8 lens,to have a go at taking

some images,I did not have much time, see the very last image-the light was

gone very quickly.

Certainly some extreme weather lately-3 inches of rain in an hour this morning.

Hope this images are of interest.

Cheers Chris

Yes,Rick-was unusual,I watched the interesting light, and the cloud formed up.

How far do you live from mountains or hills?

re clouds

Thanks Luis.

Yes,I live on top of a Mountain Range, the top of the range is about 1km away

to the right of the images.

I looked up the weather book, and the cloud section, and it mentioned these clouds are formed in association with hills and mountains.

Apparently,Lenticular clouds are sometimes responsible for UFO reports. Some of them look very circular and lens like.

This particular one I saw,was not as circular as the ones in the book, but one of the best I have seen, have seem them a few times, but not all that often.

Cheers Chris

PS,these are just the JPEGSmI have raws and hope to tweak these around, but I thought the light was still good in them, and the cloud unusual enough to warrent discussion. We certainly have no stars in the skies here in Queensland
