Hi All, ok well maybe not "the" best, but probably my best since the opposition, and with interest in Mars waning with it's size one needs to be a little sensationalist - keeping in mind too that the cities canals were definitely Asi's discovery, you can't take that away from him.
Seeing steady tonight - 7-8/10 - and the 4x powermate was cracking. I used 5 frames per second and got a better result with that compared with 10 fps - at least with Mars smaller you can get away with running a bit longer sequence before the planet's rotation smears things so capture 1200 frame over 240sec (used 750 on this). The detail on albedo features and the north polar hood for this single digit arc second mars is really approaching the better shots I got during opposition - you've got to love good seeing
The seeing is very good tonight and it really shows with the amount of detail in your picture. Excellent as usual. Take as many as you can though because the rains are coming tomorrow.
Hi All, processed a few of the other avi's I collected last night and here they are for your viewing pleasure... not sure if any are an improvement on the original, a bit of a compromise between detail and noise.
Nice work Robert, very smooth. Glad someone is getting good seeing. On clear nights we have wind and on still nights we have cloud. Suppose one good thing is coming out of all this. I am getting more sleep than I usually do.
with this fan-friggin-tasic weather, who wouldnt be asi! who wouldnt be!
..grumble
well Vingmeister, if it makes you feel any better it's clouding up here again
just as well or I'd have to image again and then post more Mars pics, yes more, I tell you MORE, BWAHAHAHA (generic maniacal laugh ) ... instead I'll leave it to Asi to provide your next serving of Martian delight
I assume it comes from too much waveletts, but if I don't, I don't get the detail I get. Hmmmm.
Asi, are you using Astra Image as well? I find if you don't push teh wavelets in Astra Image as hard (or much at all) you can get your detail without as many ill-effects through LR deconvolution processing in Astra Image...
Yes, I have astra image on the main computer, but I really don't like the program much.
I don't like the concept of having to screen-shoot half a dozen images & posting that.
I dare say it's because I'm not familiar with it & don't know how to use the program.
