Hello all
this excellent data set was acquired by Bill Snyder which he happily shared with me so that I could have a go at processing it. I thought I would post the result for comparison with Ken's image, as there are completely different equipment sets involved.

Wonderful! the goal in your image-processing i think is the colour balancing. It seems really 3D as Ken's picture! (At the moment my vocabolary is not very large...)

That central nebula is well defined...and reminds me of the Alien out of American Dad
Looks very nice Martin, a fair bit of noise in some areas though (for you) considering the exposure time and a small thing...the stars are all white?? No RGB I know but it looks like you just desaturated the stars..?... still, it looks good all the same and a nice collaborative effort none the less, good work

Yes Mike, with no RGB to overlay, you cant really produce coloured stars from NB data. When that is the case, I choose to make the stars all white, rather than have to look at those horrible red halos that occur when processing NB data. Without RGB, I do not know any other way - either red stars/halos, or all white.
cheers
Martin

That's very impressive. Especially comparing to the 20 inch RCOS image of Kens which as expected has more detail but the TMB130 has held up very well indeed on this one.

Thanks guys
Mike - I forgot that Bill had sent me RGB data also, so I blended that in now. Unfortunately, the brighter stars were saturated, so no getting that back. I turned up the noise reduction a notch also.
cheers

Martin,
Its a simply beautiful image to look at - Thanks.
I am curious to know the steps you took and how long it took you !
Thank Bill also for his hard work too ! - how long did that take him to collect ?

Very nice!
I like the wide FOV perspective and the tonal choices you made. But most of all I like the preservation of the OIII haze around the evaporating clouds . . .

Beautiful !!! Would like to comment on the comparison of Kens great image and that for me the wider field images somehow convey a more natural feel, and so its like the wider field ones are what I would actually see if I were able to be at some vantage point in space ... Other than that personal preference, this image as is Kens are very fine examples of the region.

Yes indeed, very nice data to work with here Martin.
This area looks excellent in narrow band and I think you've done an excellent job of processing.
Now with the rgb data set thrown in for star colour, it's sublime!
Just a hint of noise through sharpening or contrast enhancing to the dark clouds to the r/H side but that would be a nit pick.. as nit picked by Mike
Looks as though the 5" TMB is holding its own I'd say!
All the best
Rich

Lovely processing Martin. Surprised the OIII isn't overly strong with this target. Details and composition (latter on Bill's accord) are fantastic. Top work.

Hi Martin,
Beautiful rendition. And the Apogee 8300 and TMB do a great job. How long were the subs? Bill's site doesn't mention.
Best, Craig
