This was some old data dating back to when I first purchased the FSQ106. The image was captured with QHY8Pro one shot colour and is a compile of 8 X 10 minute images and a couple of 1 minute exposures for the core.
Gotta do something Cabin fever is setting in. I am even enjoying going to work so something has to give.
Hi Doug,
Fantastic detail, core, dust etc. My only comment is the colour balance. Does it need more blue and less red, or just less saturation. But fabulous image. Craig
Excellent M42 repro Big D, I think I remember the original larger FOV..? didn't I have a play with it . It needs to be viewed larger though Doug, this is almost a thumbnail
Holy mega cow. The M42s people are producing this year are out of sight. Just a couple of years ago people would have killed to get an image as wonderful as this. Great goin' Doug.
Super shot Doug. There's a lot more data in there and it would support a more stretching on the outskirt. Superb colors.Sid of a sid. Hope you don't mind.
I like it Doug, thanks for the view. You don't have to apologise. Each repro brings out more detail, and yours is an image to be proud of.
All the best.
Thanks Lester, I always feel I am doing something wrong posting an upgrade on data or processing when I have already posted the image once.

Thanks Trevor, I sometimes think I am going colour blind but at least this time I can blame the filtered light through clouds for not seeing the green in the original.

Thanks Graham, yes it's a dusty area. I must try a big Mosaic of this area or at least an image at f3.8 with the FSQ and reducer.

Thanks Graig and Mike, I tend to agree with you and often wonder why the final JPG is somewhat different to the TIFF file. I use CS4 to do my reduction in size and compress and have noticed this process changes the output file's colour a little.

Your statement is an understatement and a half. In the days of film an image like this would have made the 7.00pm headlines and got me a round the world trip. I remember M42 being just a bit of a wing with a few swirls and nothing more.
Thanks Rob.

Thanks Mark, feel free to play to your hearts content. I usually have a play with images posted just for practice and interest sake to see if I can improve it somewhat. By the way a nice improve on the overall colour balance.

Some good data there but before you know it you will be gathering more data. I like the overall look to the image and the field of view is great. I don't get this with the TSA but may have to invest in a reducer. These M42's are inspiring me to have another crack at it this year. Although it might be harder when it is so far down the list.
Repro's or sid's or what ever else you want to call them amaze me. The detail and texture within the Nebula is just fantastic, I love it.
Darren
Thanks Darren.

Lovely images and renditions Doug.
Thanks Paul, I need some serious help from the weather Gods to get any new data for this or any other image at the moment, The prospects before Christmas look pretty bleak on the imaging front but there is always next year.

Thanks Rich, Sometimes I wonder about the depth of colour but then think if it is pleasing to my fading eyes then that will have to do. I suppose the colour is a subjective thing that can only be guessed at best. Nebulous areas on Star Trek are nice and bright so that will do me.
