Emagin 'Eyebud' for discrete chart viewing

For all you gadget freaks heres a new one :

http://www.3dvisor.com/pdf/Eyebud800_datasheet.pdf

OLED displays are making a revolution in Headmounted displays ( HMD's) because they have good contrast and very low voltage. The Eyebud will power straight of the USB port of a Notebook computer.

Imagine running your favorite StarChart program, Megastar , the SKy etc, and being able to check the eyepiece and chart at the same time to be able to identify objects , or select your next target in wide map view, without leaving the eyepiece. Or being able to call up a Schmidt survey photo of the object you are looking at, in the other eye. All without the display bothering anyone else. Or being able to view the display of a high sensitivity CCD video camera, while panning the scope around by hand in real time, while having the other eye free to navigate in the real world.

These things will probably be under USD$600, and needless to say the monitor can be flipped up when you don't want it.

Food for thought anyway.

Mark

Hmm, my headlight bumps the OTA if I don't rotate it now so what is a HMD going to do.....Sounds good though, now if they can just work out a way to project the image in to the EP.
