Bowerbird audio download.

Hey guys. I spent some time in the mountains yesterday with some Satin Bowerbirds, carefully watching and listening. Now I am home I have found an audio file that matches what I heard, but can't seem to download it.

I would like to put an audio file on my site or a link to a sound file, but not to a whole web page.

Anyone know how I can download this sound file, or can someone direct me to a downloadable file that sounds the same?

Baz.

Here Baz, copy/paste this into your page and see if it works.

If not I can try another one for you.

Hi Baz

If you use firefox and install the addon Video download helper it will allow you to download the audio. I know it works as I just did it from the link you provided sounds good too.

I tried pasting the HTML code in Ken, but alas, it just put the whole page in mine - less the audio file.... weird.

Warren, thanks for the suggestion. I will investigate.

While I'm here I should add that I set up a system a while back for a guy who was moving all the magnetic taped bird calls to digital media for storage in the ozzie archives. Good to see they are preserving this stuff.

In Internet Explorer: Tools > Internet Options [General Tab] Click on Settings under Browsing History, then View Files. In the List of cached files you'll see the first one called 860. It is a 696KB mp3 file. Drag n' drop it on your desktop.

It is surprising how many people don't realise that all the content in every page they browse on line is saved on their hard drive, photos, sound files, videos, flash, text/html files, etc... including viruses, trojans, etc...

Not having a go at you Baz, just stating facts and implementing some security tips.

It is a good practice to clear your browser cache regularly. I do it on each start-up with a batch file: Here it is attached. Copy that in your Startup directory on Win32 [C:\Documents and Settings\user\Start Menu\Programs\Startup].
Attached Files
File Type: zip IE_ClearCache.zip (208 Bytes, 3 views)

Use Audacity, a free download programme. There is a "what you hear is what you get" setting. You can save in WAV or MP3 format.
