Mars 12th Jan VS Mars 11th - wringing out the detail
Hi All, just processed the avi I took on the night of the 12th and pitted it against an image from the previous night at the same time. Both show a fair bit of Martian detail considering Mar's is only 9arc sec in diameter right now and shrinking. The one on the 12th shows even more subtle detail, however, including an extension of the north polar hood cloud up through Mare Acidalium and Niliacus Lacus that wasn't there the previous night. Note also the rotation of the surface features such as Solis Lacus. The images were taken at the same time on Earth but the Martian day is 30min longer so the globe appears shifted slightly. Fair bit of subtle detail and structure in the area of Solis Lacis (the eye of mars) too.
Wonder how small it can get and still pull good detail... watch this space!
That's with the NexImage in the 4x Powermate? Same settings on capture as night before?

yep Matt, 4x powermate and neximage, 1/20th sec exposures with brightness, gamma and sauturation around 50% and gain around 25% stacking up around 1000 frames each, processing in registax and LR decovolution in Astra Image 2...
