TomTom GPS

Anyone here had anything to do with the TomTom One GPS?
Before I went to Brisbane wednesday I tried to update the maps on the GPS and paid my 99.95 to TomTom followed the instructions sent via email and I now have a useless GPS..... no maps....... nothing.
I sent an email to TomTom but the only answer I got was the same as the automated email I received after they took the money from my account.

The email states to connect the GPS to my PC and it should automatically detect the update and install, tried that numerous times.

OK the question is how do I get the GPS working again?
I dont have a backup of the GPS maps, I recently installed Win7 64bit and I formatted the drive.

Can anyone help?

Adrian

Did you purchase the map via their website or via the TomTom Home application?

You should have a downloaded map then. I suspect that your "ttgo.bif" file is corrupt.

When you plug the TomTom into the USB cable, what happens? (don't start the TomTom application)...

When I plug in the tomtom the app starts. But I can stop the app and look at the device as a storage device.
And I can't find the new map anywhere.

I'll need your TomTom model and NavCore version. You can get this via the device itself by:

TomTom model is printed on the bottom of the device.

1) Tapping the Time/GPS area of the device (where the signal strength is, generally lower right)
2) Tap the "Version Icon" (Not the Satellite icon).

It should have the following displayed

Device
App/OS
RAM
GPS version / Boot version
Map and Version
Language

The model is TomTom One PH6109A01191 but that is all the info I can get as I can't get past the "no maps found" page. Is there somewhere in one of the files that will give me that info?

On your device, two files.

1) install.bif
2) ttgo.bif

PM me the contents and a list of the files in the root directory of the device.

If you can't get past the initial screen, then something is seriously wrong.

Received an email from TomTom giving me instructions on how to fix the GPS. It's currently doing its thing and updating all files on the GPS. Fingers crossed it will work.

My Garmin maps have been out of date for a couple of years now. I figured I'd wait for tunnel newman (The Mayor) to stop digging holes before I updated. I might be waiting for a few more years by the looks of the new opposition leader

Good luck, hope it works. Sorry I could not be of more help. We gave it a good try though.

OICURMT yes gave it a good try. The map update kind of went ok at least there is now a map on the device, however, I cannot activate the map it didn't do it automatically so have to manually but it won't accept my activation code. Another email on the way to TomTom.
