Plane passing close to Moon.

"Close,but no cigar'

No royalties likely on this image, but still a bit of fun.

I was working down the paddock,I noticed the moon looked in a good position for the '5.30' plane to go near,(When I could see the moon-so much cloud)

I heard the plane, saw it was going to be close, but not a cross.Quickly ran up to house, and got the 50D which had 400 mm L prime attached, dialed up the settings I thought would be the best (F 6.3,iso 250,500th sec);and hoped the cloud moved a little bit.By this time I could see I would be challenged to get the two in the frame.

I thought these turned out reasonable given, the cloud and the run up the paddock.

The plane could be a Saab 340,airline unsure-The aeroplane people will figure all that out, image taken at 5.41,I think it two days after first quarter. The same moon I got the good 'moon/plane' image on.

Cheers Chris

Nice going Chris, shame it did not cross as the plane itself is extremely crisp and clear, your files are huge mate.

Good go, Chris.

Yes, it's a Rex SAAB 340B.

The other object is easier to identify...!

Smile Nice shots...

Hi Chris, Nice shots. I tried to catch a passing A320 Last night, it went directly in front of the moon but I missed the chance by seconds !

This mixes both my passions of Aviation and Astronomy so its a definite win in my books !
