Startrails

Hi all, Just playing around with some startrails and timelapses, taken this morning Also got a chance to have a look at Hartley 2 also....

Thanks for the comments.. I agree, I love doing timelapses and Star trails are a simple form of Astrophotography that anyone with a camera (even P&S) can do.. The star trail timelapse was an experiment, but worked quite well.

My intention that night was not the trails, but to do some wide field long exposure photography, of Comet 103P. Unfortunately the star tracking mount I made decided it would be a good time to go too fast, so every exposure was trailed also....

These are just magic! I love star trails. I still use my film camera because I think it gives a good result with looong exposures (though this weekend's result must be the exception that proves the rule!).

As I'm starting to much around with the webcam I'd love some more info on how you created these Andrew if you're happy to share.

Each trail image was a set of 35 second exposures, not exactly sure how many now, roughly 100 images... Combined using a program called Startrails. ISO 400 on both.
