Scorpionfly

First time I've ever seen a scorpionfly. It was very patient with me taking lots of shots. Not particularly happy with the lighting, the flash is a little harsh.

Hi Troy

Wow – it’s all arms and legs, what an amazing insect! Nice angles to get the important stuff in focus, to compensate for the shallow DOF!

Cheers

Thanks guys. I think they look meaner than they are. The name doesn't do them any favours either. It comes from the tail of the males on some species look like a scorpion's tail.

Great capture Troy

Imagine if that was a hundred times bigger we'd be running for the hills.

Cheers
