it's big, it's black, it's shiny!

Hi all, not 24 hrs after I ordered it from Bintel Sydney I have in my hot little hands a spanky new 2in barrelled 4X Tele vue Powermate... it's big, black and shiny. Actually it's Very big. I'm thinking of a 35mm panoptic too and I reckon if I put the two together my scope will keel over in protest

Anyway, the plan is to use this to get some serious image scale in planetary imaging using the C9.25 on those nights when seeing in good to excellent. The 2.5x powermate I have could do with a bit more oomph, and the 5x (as Rumples has pointed) out is rarely viable with the SCT unless the seeing is truly exceptional.

Now if I could just see the sky I can let you know how it performs

cheers,

C9.25... 4x Powermate .... 35mm Pan .... Grand Prix pit-lane girls keeping a regular supply of cool ales served up to feverish astronomers

You did mention the girls, right? Or did I just add that to your dream?

Aw shucks, yoos guys are keen aren't you...

there's a big damn fluffy grey thing that's been hovering overhead last week or so showing no signs of going away.

so for now I'm just going to have to cradle it in my arms and polish it with a nice microfibre cloth (or maybe a nice bit of Lycra) - go on, call me sad, I dare ya.

PS lilac is so much more sophisticated than pink, and frills can chafe (so I've been told)

cheers

you are sad and i am going to report you to the T.A.A.C (telescope accessories abuse commission.)

the powermate should be in a nice warm bed asleep. you do not pick up your babies just to cuddle them just cos they a cute. they need their sleep.

do go back, kick your wife's belongings out of her side of the bed and gently place the 4x on the bed, creep back out and monitor the temperature carefully.

gees new parents these days..........back when i was a new parent........waffle waffle

seriously, my powermate 5x is my first televue,

HOW GORGEOUS IS THE GREEN WRITING ON A BLACK BACKGROUND!!!

That colour combination would be shocking in any other industry, but boy does it evoke emotions in me that really aren't natural over a piece or glass!

now DP what could be unnatural about buying your powermate flowers and choclates and then taking it out somewhere nice dark and quiet

shhhh... must keep the typing down or wake the green-on-black baby - it's so cute how the condensation from your fingers films gently on the stainless barrel...
