M17 cdk17

I am impressed by the optics of this scope and its light gathering ability.

Here is a late M17, taken low in the sky where I wouldn't normally image. I was waiting for a galaxy to rise so I could image it.

LRGB 20 10 10 10.

Only 50 minutes. Aperture definitely rules.

Planewave CDK17, FLI Proline 16803 at -35C, Astrodon Gen 11 LRGB filters, Paramount ME.

I'm going to have to do really long exposures once I get some good weather to see what it can do.

Greg.

Must be nice to have such a big scope and light gathering capacity. I saw your running man also, the possibilities are endless once you have that sort of reach.

Hmmm? maybe it's not too late to change my Orion Optics order to something a little bigger

Another grand style shot there Gregory Pegory...I love it when you go through these imaging bursts of yours!

I'll have to do some serious image time and put something together.
Maybe a time lapse of The Pleiades heehee.

It does open up a lot of possibilities.

That's quite a treat for a quick snap Greg. You can really see the details that scope dug out. Terrific.

Lovely Greg, I do like the star colour and the glow of the bigger stars, it makes it look somewhat magazine cover material. If this is just a happy snap God help us when you really try.

Nice one Mate.

I remember seeing a wonderful Horsehead image by Russell Croman using a 20 inch RCOS. I was stunned when I saw it was less than 100 minutes total exposure time. Its the advantage of the big aperture. Your C11 shots are very deep for the time spent.

Thanks Doug. I am very happy with the peformance of the scope and as you say it has a lot of potential. I am looking forward to really taking it to the max. I think it also depends on the target. Next thing for me to check out is how the ML8300 goes with it. Smallish galaxies will almost fill the frame.

Greg.
