A nasty Horsey

First attempt for the season and first for a long time, conditions were lousy to say the least plenty of LP and an easterly wind, needs dark sky and much longer to do any justice for sure

1hr 14 min in 9 frames (no flats) using ED80 and QHY 8 OSC

cropped and uncropped

Very nice Trevor! I'd be pretty stoked with an image like that.

In the olden days I remember it was quite an achievement just to be able to image the horsehead at all. We're such perfectionists these days!

All it needs is a little gradient reduction treatment; I attached an example (hope you don't mind!).

No problemo Ivo, I didn't do much in the processing dept with this one as needs a lot more data IMO to bring out the finer detail.

I'll jsut have to wait for one of those nights when everything comes together.

I know what you mean about being a perfectionist in the film days you'd be stoked with an image like this

Cheers

That easterly wind just did it didn't it?
Nice one Trevor
Just a pity about the gradients.
You could always use an HA filter on those LP,Moon and crap nights, to get some nice results
PS: Do you have an LP filter?

Very nice Trevor, Glad someone got to see some stars. Looks like you need to be more carefull with the framing and drop it all down a bit but otherwise, very nice.
