Sydney weather!?!?!?

Aaaargggh..

How frustrating is this weather..

Rainy. Humid. Rainy. Cloudy. Humid.

All while there's zero jetstream across NSW.

Since New Years Day, there's been 1 clear night.

Well, on the plus side, maybe if this low pressure is over Sydney now, it'll have blown away for good in 9 days time!

I was explaining to my wife (SWMBO) that with this rainy weather around Sydney it was my "duty and obligation" to her that I should buy some new astro gear now so as to not mess up the weather at a future date when she might have important weather dependent plans...

While she was clearly moved by my thoughtfulness... her reply was that my arguement was "compelling but not convincing" and seems to sum up her thoughts on my idea...

In spite of her initial luke warm response, I may try and submit a formal proposal to her in the next few days...

I must apologise, because I think that I am responsible for the bad weather over Sydney. The timing of the rain and clouds coincides with the purchase of my first telescope and my girlfriend blames/thanks me for the rain. Perhaps a solution for the drought stricken communities across Australia would be that they simply purchase a telescope, rain will surely follow.

Sorry Mike but this has got to be said. While all you East coasters have had such fine weather we have had nill weather conditions. Cloud with no rain equals nill weather or on nights of No cloudy the sky looks like it is opaque or the stars are twinkling like no bodies business. BTW before Christmas I got in 4 imaging nights for 6 weeks and I don't have any kids or a wife and now apparently a girlfriend (who finds all this imaging extremely boring). So even when my time is my own (which I don't mine since there are more fish out there to eat), the *&)#@%^ weather cannot co-operate and produce good seeing conditions. I am sure that SA has the worse seeing conditions in Australia. A good night of seeing is on the scale of around 3-4/10. Getting 8-9/10 only happens when I go to some place near water and this happens so rarely because I spend all year working my ring gear off so that I can live on ham sandwiches when I retire and not cat food.

So I do hope you get some nice weather soon you east coasters.

Paul

Yep, I agree Paul! I have noticed that S.A. and Perth have had atrocious weather for a long time now!

asi is churning out images like nobody's business, you guys in the south must be getting some clear weather!

I saw stars tonight, for about 2 hours. But now, as Saturn is rising, clouds again. And it'll stay this way until morning.

Yep, it got to Sydney just on dusk last night - gave me a whole whopping 45 mins of viewing - and here starts our little drama.

ACT 1 - SCENE 1 - Inside a Garage
ME: Quick, help me lift the scope out to the front.
HER: But it will only get cloudy again, I can see more clouds coming
ME: GRRR! - are you going to help or not!
HER: OK

ACT 1 SCENE 2 - Ouside of Garage - 30 mins later
ME: Quick - help me lift the scope into the garage - it looks like raining
HER: I told you
ME: GRRRR - are you going to help or not!
HER: OK

What more can I say

Hmmm, a conspiracy. heaps of rain as well, so won't complain too much. Now lets' hear the pukes in power say - "But none of this fell in the catchments"

ciao

Lance

I've been dying to try out the new firmware for the ArgoNavis since I downloaded it with no luck because of the weather!

Hopefully I'll get it done before the AstroCamp!
