Such a deal

Boy, somebody should snap this baby up, it would make an awesome imaging instrument:

And with our dollar so strong it is competing with gear many times below its level.

Greg.

Greg, you are right its is one sweet deal, just wish i had the funds I would snap it up in no time. Its had a 1000+ hits on it so far, so i dont think it will last long. Amazed at the price for a Tak epsilon.

I agree, and thought the same thing Greg, but then looked at my humble AstroTech 8" imaging newtonian, and at US$450 (new) it made me wonder if the extra is better put into a mount, and/or camera. Not taking anything away from the Epsilon, they really are stunning, but there has to be something amiss when it has that amount of hits, and no sale.

The US telescope market was very vibrant about 2 years ago. I think the GFC has taken the wind out of its sails for now and that is more what you are seeing (I don't know that much about the scope though).

I have seen more APs and large RCs etc being sold in the last year and a half on Astromart than at any other earlier time.

Thought the same thing...I would love to snap this one up but something doesn't feel right. It has scatches on the tube, no finder scope and no front dust cap...nothing major. Still..at $2250 USD it is a bargin provided the optics are prestine condition.

Remember guys it is an old version (F4) of about 1990 vintage not the new flash F2.8 version. Apparently they are quite large and very heavy so it would take a good mount to get anything useful from it. I would say that is why it has been sitting around for a while. Not sure I would pay 2K for a 20 year old scope that has been open to the elements for that amount of time. The coatings would have to be suspect by now surely?
