Ha Sun AR1112

Hi,

several reasons why I post this here on your fine australian based forum:

- no image of AR1112 posted yet on iceinspace
- my image not allowed on the other english speaking forum I regularly lurked
- "too many Jupiters overflow" on all astronomy forums right now

I was a little bit late that day for imaging, at 4 pm the sun is really low already. Winter is definitely approaching over here in germany. Caught the opportunity to image between the two chimneys of my neighbors house. Some wait and it would have disappeared behind his roof. I definitely have to escape the city to get crisper images, but I'm not unhappy with this one. Avistack2 is a blast!

I hope you like it, too. It's a stitch of 3 images using the same exposure settings (no extra image for the prominence; it was quite bright anyway). DMK31 and a modified 4" PST. Edit: date 10/10/10

That looks great! Very smooth and so much details, even on the limb. Love it!

Excellent capture - thanks for the update - many of us have not had the opportunity due to the weather - Brisbane has been clouded out for 3 weeks!

Thank you very much for the comments! Also glad to have an international home for my captures again, Mike

Getting into solar imaging is very rewarding, Alexandra. I'm into it for about a year now and hooked since then. Commercial solutions are quite expensive though (my setup was under 1400AUD gladly). Provided you get the system working, solar imaging is quite similar to lunar imaging, but more diversified. While the moon is rather static, the sun is very dynamic in the Halpha line. Even now with our quiescent sun.

I'll help out with solar images anytime, Matt, and hope you get better weather for your excellent images soon.

Michael
