What is a good light pollution filter?
I am thinking of putting a light pollution filter in front of my Proline camera to help with some of the gradients I have been getting.
Any suggestions about which one is best?
The light pollution is mild.

I use Hutech - because they don't shift the RGB palette. I note of the main contenders - some cut Sodium, Neon and Mecury based lamps glow more - but they shift colours in unusual ways.
So if you want colour fidelity - consider the Hutech IDAS filter.

Thanks Matt.
Hutech have been pumping out good products for some time now.
I wonder how I attach it, hopefully it will screw into the face of the camera.
Cheers,
Greg.

I agree Hutech IDAS LP filter, works great!
Not sure it will help with the gradients but sure will make it easier to take longer exposures in light pollution.

Thanks Leon and Andrew.
It should help with the gradients as the example shows on their website of with and without the filter and an SBIG ST8XE showed quite a bit more contrast.
Thanks for the advice guys. It seems there's a consensus here about the Hutech IDAS filter.

Hi Greg,
I'll add my voice to those above, buy it direct from Hutech, they're really nice. I've had a 2" and now have the 1.25" as I changed where the filter goes in the imaging setup (now behind the pickoff mirror for the autoguider).
Worth every cent, probably a few more actually.
Cheers
Stuart

Thanks Stuart. They sound like just the right thing for my system.
I also masked off some bright blue LED lights on the Paramount mount and that made the observatory significantly darker and I noticed a difference in some subs I took. So its very "local" light pollution as well!
