We were already in the "space race" over 40 years ago. The same fools that canceled it then will not even bother with it now. They're too busy wasting our money on propping up their big business mates. Unfortunately it's not going to happen, no matter how much we may want it.

I didn't read the comments was only interested in the actual story. Makes sense to re enter the space race I suppose. I would be happy to pay a $1 a year over the next 10 years to belonging the project. What about you guys?

I'd pay more....if we spent 0.5 of 1% of our budget on space research etc, that would amount to nearly $1.5 billion a year ($1.47 billion to be exact).

That's the same percentage that NASA is allocated of the US budget and they get about $19 billion dollars to spend each year.
