Exclamation 700 members!

Wow! What a month its been! We've just reached 700 members, thanks to Gopha from New Zealand!

The new member registrations have been coming in thick and fast, especially in the last 5 weeks where we went from 600 to 700 in no time!

It was the 3rd December when we hit 600, and it's now the 4th January and we've hit 700! That's the quickest 100 member increment in the history of the forum! Well done everyone!

I reckon the xmas comp, the article in AS&T and word of mouth have all contributed to the dramatic growth of the forum membership in the last month. Thanks to everyone for being a part of this great (and growing) community.

It's amazing to think that sometime this year, we could hit 1000 members! That's bigger than I ever thought possible for what started as my little website and little forum.

Let's keep the momentum going - tell your friends about IceInSpace, link to IceInSpace from your own personal websites and tell everyone at your astro societies that they can join in the fun and interesting discussions that happen daily on IceInSpace.

Congrats to the community for another great milestone.

LOL, well done Mike, I recently brought a new member to the fold JohnG, I bought his celestron c8 OTA, so he joined. He is from Bermagui, and an avid astronomer! Lots of talent out there just waiting to join the fold !

The bigger things get, the bigger the job. In that regard, thanks for your ongoing hard work Mike, and the other Moderators too.

Mike, it's a fantastic effort, Pegster's Maple Valley forum in the US, which started around the same time, has only 35 members and manages only a handful of posts per month. IIS posts range from serious to wacky, sometimes a little of both and that's part of what makes the forum so appealing. The standard of discussion and particularly astrophotography is excellent and the members are both friendly and generous. Must be something about Ozzies...

I suppose I was member 6?? to join and I must say....It's been a pleasure. As opposed to the sometimes snobbish forums regarding astronomy....IIS is the best...

566 Tom.

It's been a marvel to watch grow so rapidly Mike. It shows how much we needed something like this in Oz. At this rate we will be a 1000 members before the end of March.

Here's to the best online Astronomy Community in the World.

HERE HERE! Well done Mike & mods. & members!

I firmly believe there has to be a certain amount of 'wacky' posts (as well as serious ones) to keep it entertaining.

Congratulations to everyone involved in Iceinspace!

Well done Mike, your site must provide what members need. I find the discussion on various topics fills the gaps (and creates a few laughs). No matter what seems to comes up someone has an opinion or some information. Keep up the good work.
Kind Regards

Considering CN has over 8k members, and has a much larger base to draw from; I think it is considerable achievement to have this many on this forum so soon. I remember when CN only had 2K members, so look out there would be easily over 5k astronomers in Australia and New Zealand that don't yet know about this site.

At some point though I wonder if the forum will still have the same feel as it has had in the past! Is there such a thing as too many members?

Congratulations to all those who contribute to this site.

Rumpley Paul,
So long as the nutters ( we all know who they are ) keep contributing the original feel will stay the same. Congratulations Mike, we are very happy for you.
