Is Uranus hiding behind Jupiter?

Hey all,

I havent been on these forums for about 6 months as I havent had internet access which sucked severely... but I missed you all

I got my scope out tonight, first night in a long time mind you,... to find Uranus and Jupiter similarly alligned on stellarium software.
I am assuming Jupiter being the much larger and closer of the 2, will be covering Uranus tonight, but i woukld like some confirmation.
Is Uranus actually viewable tonight?

Anyway its great to finally have the net and be back and active on these forums again....

No, there is an 0.8 degree separation, so you should be able to see them in same field of view. Uranus should be to the north of Jupiter.

It just looks like Jupiter is covering Uranus in the programme because it probably uses a symbol for the planet that is many times larger than the scale used by the programme.

ahhhh okay, I noticed 3 moons all on the south side, then I noticed another which I thoiught may have been another moon to the north... but now I am guessing that is Uranus? if so cool!

Welcome back Jabba!!

Yes, Uranus in same FOV as Jupiter so a great time to find it.
2 nights ago we had Jupiter and 4 Moons in FOV, with Uranus in upper left of same FOV in scope.

Thanks for the help! it was a nice clear night to check it out... although a little too cold for my liking so im going to pack up early... and maybe a little too tipsy

Just saw Uranus to the north of Jupiter, about as far away from Jupiter as the furthest visible moon in the other direction, quite faint, but definitely a disk, not a star.
Quite a blast for a newbie!
