December Photo Challenge - VOTING! **Pick 2**
Subject: "Things That Go Boing!"
Entries here
With only 5 entries, I'd say pick 1 but given most people vote for themselves as well, Pick your 2 favourites.
Winner chooses the January subject.

Mike,
Is there a way to write a hack where you are unable to vote for yourself?
I like being able to vote for myself, but it would force folks to vote on what
they really like.

I agree With Rob, although I have never voted for myself. Just doesn't seem fair to give yourself a vote.

in the end when you vote for yourself its [i[only[/i] 1 vote... I wouldnt think it'd matter. I wouldnt vote for myself unless I thought mine was the best anyhow

One choice was easy, and as I couldnt vote for myself the other was more diffucult.
On the subject of voting, Im note sure the method of allowing 3 or 2 votes is fair either. Hypothetically speaking: -
Suppose every voter except 1 (say Ving ) thought that one image was by far the best and also voted for the same second choice. Then Vingo up and votes for a third image as his favourite but the same second choice. The second choice wins is this fair ?
Just a thought, or am I missing something ( )
Sandwich short of a Picnic?
Knitting with only one needle?
Etc, etc.
Anyways a great enjoyable part of this forum.

Or suppose my shot was the best but no one voted for it! Voting is not fair full stop.

The multiple choice is not the ideal way of voting - I really want people to be able to rank them (1/2/3) so that 1st gets more points, and therefore the winner would be the picture with the most points overall.
I haven't found an easy way to do this in vbulletin yet, but i'll keep looking.
Maybe we need to go back to 1 choice only, with a hack where you can't vote for yourself. It just might mean the votes are further spread and the winner is not as clearly out in front. But that could be fine too?

My thoughts are,
Vote one choice only and don't vote for yourself.
I don't think it really matters which way we do it.
I really enjoy the photo challange. Something different than talking Astro stuff.
It was hard last month but use your head and boing something will spring to mind.

When you boil it all down does it really matter?
As Dave said, "Something different than talking Astro stuff".
All in all a bit of fun. Leave in the multiple voting and find a hack where you can't vote for yourself.
As the thread is called: "Photo Challenge" not "Competition".

John, we have to get this voting business right for when the photo comp/challenge will have evolved into a Nagler-a-month giveaway.

Nagler-a-month giveaway!
Now there's food for thought.
Bring it on Mike.

That is actually not a bad idea!
Which one should it be? Type 4 12 or 17mm has my vote. Or maybe just a little 4.8mm type 1 (to begin with ). They are going for under $US100 in the States. Gotta have a word with Bintel about that.
But Rodstar also has a 13mm T6 for sale. How about donating it to a good cause instead, Rod?
