After seeing Troy's amazing bug photo's this morning-I thought they look familiar to the bugs in our vegetable garden,after seeing some 'half grown' versions,I think they are the same species,we had a few adults,fully grown.
So I took these for you Troy-these are what your baby bugs will grow into!,they are a 'bug' these have a 'probiscus' to suck sap and plant juice-pic 5 show the probiscus.
Not sure of the scientific name-we just call them "Red Bum Bugs",usually see lots just before rain,a lot seen this morning-so I guess it will rain again soon.
OMG. I stopped reading after "Troy's Red Bottom", eyes glazed over, mind went blank wondering what this could be all about, the I picked up the subject line again at "Adult Version"!!!!

Yes, these look kinda like the adult of the little ones I shot. Although the adult wasn't red, it was all dark grey. Pretty sure they're called seed bugs, but could be corrected on that.
Ahem.... They look a lot like a Cockroach don't they? Are you takin' the mickey Chris? BTW, you're doing great with that new 60mm, they're supposed to be a ripper.
I can't check as I don't have my bug book with me here in the hotel. I might pop out to the Botanical Gardens bookshop (Canberra) tomorrow and get me a decent bug book, maybe a spider one too !! They have a great selection there if anyone is after critter/bird/plant/fungus books.

Yes,Jason the 60 mm macro is a corker lens!,I was very lucky and picked it up for $400 which included hood and UV filter,my neighbour is going to buy one for her 50D after seeing the images it produces.
BTW, you're doing great with that new 60mm, they're supposed to be a ripper.
