Junk Mail scams just get more and more bizarre!!

Hi all,
This just showed up in my junk mail folder...

Greetings!
I am an American Soldier in Iraq. During a normal inspection routine along Haifa Street, built and occupied by the late Saddam Hussein. On one of his hide outs we discovered an unusual bulge in a cellar, which I presumed to be storage room and as I proceeded to have a closer look at it, we found several metal boxes piled on top each other and locked with padlocks.
I believe however that all these belongs to late Saddam Hussein while he was still alive, and because of this reason, I instructed the soldiers with me to move all the boxes containing the cash to keep the funds to ourselves, so as to help establish ourselves when we return from Iraq. Reply for more details.
My Sincere Regards,
Major Kent Rideout.

WTF!?
Although I do feel that in some strange way I am entitled to a share in Saddam's hidden booty!!
So perhaps I should respond?

Jeez!
Doug

You can tell its a scam!

Look at the way this person writes: "presumed to be storage room, on top each other, these belongs to late Saddam"

Terrible Syntax and Grammer! This no American soldier with a squillion dollars to share with you.

See, total nonsense! you have to be careful of these emails

It's sounds more likely an Iraqi with a squillion dollars to share with you.

lol reasons you can tell its a scam
1: why would an army officer share any money with any one who he does not know or trust as then he runs the risk of being court marshalled and put in jail for war crimes
2: poor gramma ( lol not that mines much better)
3: how would an U.S army officer get your email address
4: why not send it to some one in the U.S not AUS?
5: how would you be able to send him an email back? what does he get the internet on his phone over thare? or just has a net book in his bag?

That email journey was a real treat, it would be so sweet if we had the time and resource to inflict that kind of revenge on these people.
Those 419eater guys are a hoot - it's very funny to see the scammer falling prey to the same greedy instincts to which they hope their victims are inclined.

Red-pen it and send it back with "Resubmit" as the subject heading.

I never respond in any way to these emails - I feel a response in any form, first hand or by another party on my behalf is a form of identification - I really don't want to be on these guy's radar by way of confirmation of my online identity.

Apart from Doug's don't reply comment, if you help them to write properly it will make it more likely someone will believe them.

I apologise for my sense of humour. I never intended it to be considered serious. Won't happen again.

I know Ken and I hear you - but these guys are just trying to give back the same amount of s@#t that the scammers deal out on us - using the same tools they use ie email/internet.
There's never going to be any legitimate justice due to the tyranny of distance and anonymity of the perpetrator - just good fun to see the crap being thrown back in their faces to some degree.
Doug
