Venus, Moon, Mars and Spica over Lake Wivenhoe

Hi all,

I've been away camping at Wivenhoe Dam (west of Brisbane) this weekend, and had beautiful clear skies on Saturday evening for this conjunction. Here are a few of the photos I captured. In the first few only the Moon and Venus were visible, and the last one was just as the Moon was about to set. The view over the lake was fabulous! - hopefully these images convey that. I also got some shots of the sun setting, which I'll try and process tomorrow.

Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Stephen

Nice shot, I managed to catch these as well, but no where good enough as yours, I had a load of dew to deal with. It was a fantastic site to see them.

I was at a wedding on Sat night, went outside for some fresh air, looked up, saw this awesome conjunction and thought to myself "I bet Stephen will be out there, somewhere, imaging this!"

I won.

Awesome set there.

Thanks very much Malcolm, Chris, Liz, Troy and Matt! I appreciate the comments.

When we decided to go camping I had this conjunction in the back of my mind, but I'd never been to this campsite before so I was expecting to have to go for a drive to get a good vantage point. As it turned out the first image was taken from almost the inside the tent, and I only had to walk about 10 m to take the others!

Cheers,
Stephen

Great sequence... like the colours of the first couple, but I REALLY like no 5 with the reflection of the Moon in the lake.

Cheers

Fine work Stephen, you are certainly on top of your game with these wide field shots.

Thanks Tony! Unfortunately the full size version of #5 is a bit noisy. I'll have to work more on it and see if I can remove the noise.

Thanks Trevor! As I said above, the vantage point from our campsite was just about perfect, and the view was spectacular. So I was glad to come away with some images.

Cheers,
Stephen
