Venus at 4 pm and a great night visual

Hi all

Anyone notice Venus in the day light sky yesterday?around 4 pm I could clearly see near moon.(11-09-10)

It was a great start to a good evening of visual,I stayed up till 11.30 looking at many objects,M27,M22,M17,M16,NGC 6752,104,Jupiter and Uranus,plus others.

Jupiter looked so fine,watching little moon shadow,and the it popped out from disc,I could see the moon well before it was away from disc of planet.

The colour and details I observed on Jupiter,was stunning I could really make out some detail on bands and the bands near its poles.

Jupiter must be at its closets point to earth at present.

All these details on Jupiter I observed with my small 4 inch refractor.

Hope others had a good night last night,there was a bit of water vapour in air,but happy to have no clouds!

Chris

I was dooing the same between 3 and 4:30pm myself. Venus is easy unaided in the daytime and was extra easy near the Moon yesterday. It looked good in an ED80 at 60x and 100x too.

re visua;

Yes,David it went well-I did have some issue with it not doing a few things correctly,but since found out after the memory re-set I did,the gear ratios go to default settings-which is +ve.+ve to suit N.H,evidently in the S.H these need to be -ve.-ve,and I had to re set them.

Also the internal battery needs to be replaced,I think its 7 to 8 years old,and I am told as batteries fad out in computer items they can possibly start effecting micro processors functions adversely.So Geoff is operating this week to put a new one in.Also my main power battery is on its last legs,which may have further caused some issues.
