Fireworks 2006

Happy New Year 2006.

I decided to go into the city for new years eve to see the fireworks with the missus.

I had a few spots in mind that i thought would provide a good view of the show, but wasn't able to get to the location of choice.

I found another spot that was even better than i had expected, and ended up being 100 or so meters from one of the fireworks barges

What can i say, the show from such close range was awsome, i had bits of debris flying all over the place around me, dropping from above, at times it got a little scary with all the thumping explosions and the paper shrapnel flying around.

I managed to get a few nice shots with the canon, and missed a few as well trying to cover it from any of the still smouldering fireworks falling to the ground, luckily, all missed the camera and i am happy with the results.

Thanks all, i hope you had a great new years

Mike, it's easy to forget these things at times, it seemed like an awsome show in Sydney on the news.

xstream, how many did you catch

RB, yes is was the 10-22mm widefield, all at 10mm, this lens keeps producing the goods, it's my favorite lens to use on the 350.

Here's a couple more that i have resized, also some of the shrapnel that was trying to kill my camera

book a room on the top floor of the rydges hotel and got a room facing the city to see in the new year.

took some shots of the scene earlier and the 9pm display, then the big one at midnight

Me Trev? None. I only took one rod with me, my object was to teach my seven year old grandson how to catch Murray Cod. Boy! did he show his grandfather up . Five fish, two keepers; not a bad effort for his first time angling cod. BTW I let him keep the rod and real for his efforts. Sorry, I forgot to take the camera with me. But I'm sure one proud Grandfather.
