Saturn last night

Not having much luck with Saturn, it is just too low, but here is a version that is a little better than previously. Cassini visible and SEB also.

1200 frames at f10 and 640 resolution.

Comments welcome

Saturn was a treat for visual observing here at 12.5 deg south
Maybe we need to have a starparty here at our darksky site
Just beam on up here anytime you like

going north

mmm, don't tempt me...

I'm already heading north to Rockhampton in about 6 weeks to gain some latitude, dragging all the scope and imaging gear along for the ride.

Rocky at 23S is going to be better than canberra at 35S.

Nhulunbuy...12.5S...mmm....tempting ....

Okay - I just looked you up on the map. One question... How does anyone actually get to you? I'm guessing by sea or air is the only real way. The road looks...dodgy...

I know what you mean Paul. I can't seem to get a decent sharp image using 640 resolution either. Either my scope is still not qujite perfectly collimated or the seeing is still letting me down. Probably the latter. How did you get the green cast to your image?

Nhulunbuy .... otherwise known as Gove
Has 2 jet services each day one from Darwin, one from Cairns.
The catchcry of the small tourism operations here is "Gove...australia's best kept secret"
You are correct about the road, It's a 10 hr drive to Katherine on a road that is only open in the dry season & best done by 4WD even then
I have never driven out, I always fly.
I have attached a photo that the folks in the ISS took of our Dark sky site.
Shhh ... dont tell anyone they will all want to come here

Was that using the blue IR filter Paul?

The colour is a bit off, but otherwise you've got all the goods.. nice shot.

Not too bad Paul,
At least Saturn is a few degrees higher for you than it is here!
I'm going to give it another crack tonight. The weather has gone East so hopefully that will mean some better seeing... I'll post if any good!

gaa_ian: Nah, it looks too cloudy :-)

Seriously, now its on my list of Places To Go. Maybe if I am very lucky then I'll arrange a visit later this year or May/June next year...

What's the weather like in November? I expect raining and wet...
