14"Autotracking Dobsonian

Hi guys,

I gotta say last night was like Christmas eve for me, I ordered a few 14" auto-tracking dobs for a couple of friends and one for myself and they arrived today.I am SO excited to test one out, i'll post a review once I've calmed down and had a chance to run one through it's paces.
I hope they are good, i'll be really keen to see how well they track compared to Argonavis & Servocat.

Regards

Shane

Cannot wait to hear your first light report............ I suppose there has been a lot of rumours over the last 18 months to when they will be released. Glad they are finally here.

Hope they perform well!!

Craig,
They are the new SkyWatcher ones, still buzzing from sheer size!! who says size doesn't matter

Going out to Tammin in a couple of weeks i just can't wait to go hunting some deep sky galaxies, whilst imaging rig is running.
Can you think of anything better. Camping under pitch black velvet sky, with 360 degree horizons, cooking some sausages, taking photos with your imaging getup and then relaxing with a glass of red and galaxy hunting with a 14" scope , THAT IS ABSOLUTE HEAVEN to me.

Im excited

Good onya Shane ! ... sounds terrific .. look forward to seeing the piccys. Wish I could do the same !

Are you using the SkyWatcher SynScan goto navigator handset?

I ran a thread when I first joined IIS comparing the value proposition of ArgoNavis system vs SkyWatcher Autotracking/SynScan Goto. I'm still very keen to see if SkyWatcher can approximate for price/performance/functionality.

I think someone replied to my thread with words to the effect"
"You can draw a house with crayons but you couldn't build a house from it."
Those words, I think have left me with a degree of brain-damage ever since! .... I don't seem to be able to forget them !

Also, so far, everyone seems to have problems in getting hold of the SynScan Alt handsets ...

Look forward to your thoughts.

Best Rgds.

Yup most likely, however they slap a pretty hefty shipping price on those scopes and i don't think that price was correct unless it was an old price you have there maybe that's for the non-goto 14er, they are massive though so i suppose it's warranted, they weigh a tonne!!
Hopefully the clouds will dissipate tonight, still super excited i might burn a retina on the moon
Regards

Shane

Shane , I admire your enthusiasm , but as a telescope dealer selling these scopes this thread and your comments about a competitor, relegate this thread to the level of "spam" and your PM to me was even less kind about Andrew's. Therefore I have reported this thread to the moderators. Lets keep IIS free of spam . I do hope you enjoy your new 14" though .

My PM. was " in almost exactly same used words publicly"

I choose not to discuss PRICES and avoid Product names, my thread was Excited in a personal unbiased manner , and in no way "SPAM" i had already reported this thread to be removed as "YOU" discussed prices and "NAMES"
and i do not want to enter into misuse of terms and rules.
