Skywatcher 300mm x 1500mm reflector

I'm thinking of buying a 12" reflector. I have an EQ6, but am I going to have trouble viewing. Step ladder and can the mount handle the weight.

Also if anyone has used one, whats the viewing like and eyepiece's reccomended.

Hi Mate,

Yeah i use that combo, i am biased of course coz i like Skywtcher gear.
The NEQ6 pro will carry the 12" no worries at all, you need an extra two counter weights to make it balance though.

The views are pretty darn good, the first time i saw Saturn thru my 12'' I was blown away!! compared to a 8'' i had owned previously it killed it.

Astrophotography is possible too with this combo, i do it on a regular basis and have had my eq6 lugging the beast for two years now with no service to the mount at all and it's going strong.

I hope this helps

I hade a 12in. F/6 newt. Great views etc. but it it is a big beastie . Viewing position's can be awkward as you already know. Rotatable rings help greatly. It is not a 'grab and go' scope but rewarding if you put the effort in.
