Hubble Space Telescope passing the Evening Planets

Hi all,

Here's an image of the HST passing nearby the planetary triangle formed by Mars, Saturn and Venus at 7:06 pm today. The predicted mag for the HST was 1.2, but it was still at quite a low altitude when passing the planets so it was considerably fainter than this. I elected to use 1600 iso and my 70-300mm telephoto (@ 70mm) at f/4.0, and combined 3 x 4 sec exposures for this image. It's a bit grainy due to the high iso, but I captured the HST clearly enough.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers,
Stephen

Another opportunity tonight (3rd August)!

For anyone in Brisbane who is interested, the HST will pass between Mars and Saturn just after 7pm this evening, although it will be a bit fainter than it was last night. If I get the opportunity I might try and capture it again.

Cheers,
Stephen
