Planets over Southbank, 1 Aug 2010

Hi all,

Here are a couple of images od Mars, Saturn, Venus and Mercury taken from the Goodwill Bridge in Brisbane this evening. There was some nice thin cloud drifting through with added to the scene I think. I might try and get back to this spot on the 13th when the Moon joins the scene.

G'day Stephen, and fantastic shots.

I was thinking exactly the same thing about the 13th. Trying to think of good vantage points and this was one of them. Not sure if you wanted to meet up, or rather do your own thing?

Very nice alignment, I like your composition and color, very nice indeed!

I'm surprised this doesn't get a lot of "press" it's certainly a very nice view. I have an outing planned for Sept 11th I think it can be very good with the thin crescent moon.

Top Stuff Stephen,

Really like the effect provided by the Sunset on the clouds and the reflections of the lights in the water, especially the blue & red.

Thanks for the comments Troy, Luis and Trevor. I think the best photo might have been about 5 or 10 minutes after I took the second of these, but my parking meter had expired and the kids were hungry so I had to run...

I'll have to see what our plans are closer to the day Troy. I'll probably have the family with me, so it's hard to predict exactly when I'll arrive. But I may well catch up with you on the bridge.
