Finally got a clear night here last weekend as the weather here has been crud for so long!!
Here is 8x8 mins and a quick prosses job this afternoon.

Nice one Daniel but I do have to agree with Fred. It also looks like the stars all have a dark ring around them. At a guess I would think they have been sharpened a bit hard or a very strong deconvolution filter run over the entire image instead of selectively sharpening the areas which need and benifit from the sharpening.

Thanks Ken, Doug, Yeah I thought the first one may have been a little over smoothed so I have just done an express repro to back off the noise and sharpening hope this is a ittle better and I even flipped it over so it's the right way up just for you Fred.

Prefer the second version there Daniel...the first was indeed too smooth.

Colour accuracy is about there in the nebula...stars need to be backed off a tad though.

At least you are getting data! I am a repro man at the moment (and will be for some time to come methinks).

Nice looking image although the stars are still a tad oversharpened giving that harsh look. The neb looks good though.

We've all done the harsh stars thing. Selective sharpening is the go where you only sharpen the key items in the image and not the stars etc. Unsharp mask is not really a very good tool as it sharpens everything and stars look best unsharpened. Sometimes a small amount of deconvolution helps an image but that is also easily overdone and also deconvolution is best done selective (using a mask so only certain areas show the sharpened layer).

Yes Greg, I guess this is one of those steps that everyone goes through with just using the unsharp mask tool. I will give it a repro and selectively sharpen along with a few of my other images.
