I have for sale a LX200 12” classic with Meade Giant Tripod and accessories ready for imaging (you only have to add a guide scope or an off axis guider). It includes an extra mother board and drive units. Optics is in perfect condition. There are some cosmetic scratches because of use that do not affect performance. Views with this telescope are very good. It is sensible to collimation, therefore, the Bob’s Collimation Knobs, included, are a very good addition.
Reason for sale: I want to use the scope for solar imaging but my better half found out that I have not used it for more than one year (I have been using my RCX400 for deep sky imaging instead). Now she wants the money of the scope to buy another expensive and very boring sewing machine! I lost the battle, as usual, and the scope has to go.
· Orion rings system for guiding scope. It has home made improvements that do not look professional but work quite well.
· 12” Solar Filter (it is made out of glass) (I thought this was a magnificent reason to keep the scope but the wife did not understand anything about it) .
I am asking $4,200 (to tell you the truth, my wife is asking for more but I think this is a very good price for me to get rid of her asking “when is the telescope going to be sold?”).
I also have, at an extra cost, a JMI Large Universal Wheeley bar. http://www.jimsmobile.com/buy_wheeley_bars.htm#Large Size Universal. If you do not have an observatory, you could do what I used to do. I had the scope mounted on the wheeley bar and pushed it to the driveway. I made two small holes in the concrete so the wheeley bar screws that raise it above the ground were always in the same position. Then I used EQAlign software (free) to do accurately polar alignment for astrophotography. With some practice, I managed to set up the scope ready for imaging in less than 45 minutes. I have an observatory now and I am not using the wheeley bars. They only will be sold to the person that buys the scope above.
