Skywatcher Collapsible with GOTO/tracking

does anyone know if this telescope is good enough to do astrophotography for planets?

Hi Mark... Yes your will be able to use it to take pictures of Planets only really. You will need to use a WebCam and some free software called Registax. It will allow you to take video of say the moon or Jupiter and then make them into a single shot.. I have done this before with my DOB I had. If your are wanting to take pictures of deep space objects that is difficult to do, if at all with a DOD evenif it has GOTO. This is due to the fact that it is not able to allow for Earths rotation so using a Digital Camera on long exposure simply wont work. I have just upgraded my gear for asto Photo work and it is a Very big learning curve, and a n expensive one.. If you search on Google for taking planet pictures with a DOB... You will find some good info about it..

Great scope if this is going to be your first for visual work..

Hope I have been some help.

Mardy

Just did some uing my DOB yesterday, although I have made a EQ Platform to make the images a lot easier to capture. The Tracking version DOB should do the same with consideration to field rotation that is not a problem with EQ.
