New SW1200 Skywatcher 150mm (6") Scope OTA (PRICE DROP! - $500)

02 NOV 10 - Price Drop $500

G'Day All

Another scope for sale to make way for the new acqusition (as well as trying to keep wife and kids in process!).

A reluctant sale but has sat here un-touched since purchased about a year ago. Sooooo many plans and not enough time!

This is a monster of a scope and has sat in original wrapping unused since purchase. Was only opened to check optics. No diagonal or mount with this OTA.

Items included:
  • 150mm OTA Sky Blue Metallic Tube (SW1200)
  • Rings & dovetail
  • 2 x Eyepieces (I think they are - 10mm & 25mm)
  • Finderscope/Guidescope (I think from memory - 9 x 50)
Would prefer local pick-up due to size, don't think AusPost would take something this big so if you want it sent it will have to be via courier.

Comes doubled boxed in original packaging

PM Messages Only Please.

RE: SW1200 Skywatcher Box Dimensions

G'day All

Some people have requested the box dimensions for the package, they are as follows:

Dimensions (in cm)

Length 165cm
Width 26cm
Depth 27cm
Weight 15kg approx (A guess only!) It is heavy!

Tube almost weigh's 9kg + double boxed cardboard and eyepieces, rings, dovetail and guidescope. Could be over 15kg unsure?

I will accept either bank deposit or Paypal (+3%) for payment.

Hope this assists

Hey Gav,

Where is the balance point for this OTA (how far from the front of the tube)?

Is the way its depicted on the mount actually significantly out - in other words are these OTAs very front heavy and need to be mounted so 85% of the OTA hangs out the rear of the tube mounts?

Secondly about the mounting rings - could you post a few pictures - are they narrow or wider. If one wanted to attach them to a Losmandy D plate - how would this be achieved (piccys of the rings and/or dovetail next to a ruler to show the width and breath of the rigs and seperation of the mounting screws would be ideal)!

Thanks,

Matt

RE: Answer for Matt

G'day Matt

Unfortunately I do not know a lot about this scope performance etc. As I have never used it, so I feel that any advice I would give is limited. Did plan to marry it with my EQ6. Thanks to Dave and Daniel for their input.

I have sealed the box already, but if you are seriously looking at perhaps purchasing I will open it back up again. The rings supplied are the standard ones that come with the OTA when purchased and have a piggyback capacity.

Maybe Dave and Daniel might be able to help me out more with your questions re the rings and losmandy query.

Other than that Star Optics or another shop may be able to advise and provide further advice on any possible further cost in what you want to do.

Sorry mate, best I can suggest.

I have personally gone smaller in scope size and looking more at wide field imaging. That is the only reason for sale. Plus the wife is going to kill me if I keeping collecting and not shifting any! She's

Regards

Gav

Price Drop - Brand New OTA $625

Hi All

Brand New Still In Box (RRP is $1099). See original advert below for images.

Decided to drop price to $625 + Postage (or pick-up).

If it doesn't sell at this price I guess I am keeping it.

May accept a swap for any of the following:

1. Either an LXD75, LXD55, or EQ5 Pro (goto) mount in working order

or

2. Coronado PST (preferably in case)

PM's please.

Cheers

Gav

Final Price Drop!

G'day All

Final price drop to $500 (+ Postage). That's a whopping $599 saving on RRP!
Will still consider the trades listed below (i.e. PST or EQ Goto Mount). This item is also listed in the wanted/trade forum.

Regards

Gav

RE: Box dimensions and weight

Hi All

For those that have expressed an interest the box specifications are as follows:

Length: 165cm
Width: 26cm
Height: 27cm
Weight: 15kg

This cannot go via AusPost as their max length allowable is 105cm. This must go via courier, you may be interested in shopping around for a better deal if interested.

Price is firm at this present price.

Regards
