iPhone app: The Photographer's Ephemeris

Just thought I'd give a heads up on a nice piece of software I came across for the iPhone.

It's called The Photographer's Ephemeris, and it costs $11.99. It's probably a bit expensive for an iPhone app, but, I think it's worth the few bucks.

It shows on a Google Maps interface, the direction that the light from sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset will strike at your location, or any other location you choose. It doesn't require an Internet connection to work out the ephemeris data, but, does for the maps (as is the norm).

It also gives details about moonphases and twilight information.

From the help menu:

Time and direction of sunrise and sunset
Time and direction of moonrise and moonset
Phase of the moon and % illumination
Times of civil, nautical and astronomical twilight
Graphical display on a map
Save any location you want - no fixed lists
Does not require network connection for rise/set times and directions
Automatic time zone detection for any location on earth
Determines elevation above sea level
View azimuth and altitude of sun/moon for any time of day/night
Distance, bearing and elevation angle between any two points
Find when the sun/moon will appear from behind a hill
Compensation for atmospheric refraction
Compensation for elevation above the horizon

An invaluable aid for those of us who live for first and last light.

Geez I wish you blokes would stop coming up with these Apps, every month I get the inquisition over the Itunes amounts on the credit card statement.

I'll put this one on the wish list, I only just bought DSLR remote....

Simple solution, get a debit card and attach it to one of your own bank accounts. You can use a debit card on iTunes. I do.
