Atik 11002M First light

Well I have had the camera for a few weeks but the weather has been less than that needed for first light.
Tonight started out looking reasonable except for the big moon so I setup the new camera with the 7nm Baader Ha filter and started my imaging run on NGC3372. I managed 4 X 10 minute exposures before the cloud rolled back in.

Not what I had wanted for a first light but beggars can't be choosers.

Telescope: Takahashi FSQ106ED at F5 (No Reducer)

You've got some realestate behind the scope now doug. Is that without the reducer?

Nice one Doug - at least you've made a successful start! You even chose the same object that I did when I first got my STL camera.

You must have been itching, a couple of weeks is far too long to wait for a new toy tryout, glad you finally got a chance.

Nice start Doug. Heaps of the field covered without a reducer.

Thanks everyone, I am looking forward to using it when the sky clears and I can shoot a reasonable set of subs to work with. The increase in field of view with the FSQ was what I was looking for and this camera seems to fit the bill and at a reasonable price to boot. I am using it with QHY filterwheels and they match up very well.
Impressed so far.

Congrats on the new ccd Doug!
I know you'll be very happy with this setup; the FSQ and 11K chip are a match made in heaven.

Look forward to your up and coming images.

Doug,

I am so happy to see you have been able to get first light, and, what a magnificent field of view you have here. I'm jealous -- hopefully the filters won't be too much longer!

Good to see your new toy finally being put to work!
What a great start, very impressive field and lots of detail for limited subs.
Will watch your progression with interest!

Now, send at least some of those clear skies my way!

Thanks Guys, I was very happy with the end result for only 40 minutes of Ha and was very surprised at the detail this big chip was able to resolve. Considering the image is somewhat undersampled the tiny square stars are not as noticable as I had expected. I have kept my QHY9 mono, at least for the moment but can see this camera being the main camera I use at least on the big 4" focuser of the FSQ. It may not be as handy with the 2" focuser of the RC8 but that test will happen further down the track.
David $1 I'll take it...... sold.... Bank details to follow.

Thanks again for the comments.
