Arkaroola

Hi All, my wife Jodi and I spent 4 days at Arkaroola ( Gammon Ranges S.A) last weekend. What a wonderful place to visit. Great 4x4 tracks, great scenery, and skies that are so dark. Would recommend to anyone to take the visit.
We pulled an 18ft caravan, which was interesting on the gravel section of the trip. Lots of flood ways and creek crossings.
The Ridge Top tour to Sillers Outlook was awesome. Anyone remember the Mitsubishi advert were the Pajero goes over the cliff? Thats Sillers Outlook.
cheers All

Fantastic spot allright, I imagine towing the van would have been interesting on those roads . Camped there with the family last year in October. Did the ridge top tour as well, spectacular scenery. I also treated myself to one of their astro nights, looking through one of their 14" SCT's (I'd also lugged around my ED80), beautiful clear, dark skies

We plan to be over there next autumn. We'll have to visit and book in a night or two on the C14.

Pity they don't let you drive the Ridgetop Tour yourself. So long as the surface is OK it wouldn't worry me at all. I understand being on private properity they have a duty of care and have to consider noobies.

The echo-camp backtrack is a nice self-drive 4wd requiring a bit of skill especially some of the side trips; takes most of the day & used to be around $40 per car.

The Ridgetop is no longer self-drive due to the top of Sillers lookout being so small - duty of care & volume of traffic = headache.
