Eta Carina

I saw a couple of Eta posts and thought I would add one as well. This is an older image taken last year when Chris Venter and I rented the Magellan observatory in the ACT. The image was taken through the owners 12"Meade SCT using my Canon 10D. It was the first attempt at using the camera and benefited greatly from having Chris "nearby..."
Total exposure was around 25 minutes if I remember correctly.

Stunning shot Paul, very good resolution!

How much did it cost to rent the observatory?

I don't remember the cost but it wasn't prohibitive. The weekend was great and highlighted by to events. A magnificent thunderstorm on the first night whpch obviously buggered up some of the imaging (we did that through gaps in the clouds) and on the last night we finished at 4.15am and were standing outside to take a happy snap of us next to the dome when a bolide thundered across the sky (5th December). It was very spectacular and appeared in a number of publications including Sky and Space.
Fluke luck given the time.
