LCD monitors are actually quite robust, just don't slop anything wet all over them or attack them with Jif.
A isopropyl alcohol dampened soft cloth will take most marks off. I've even used a fingernail carefully applied to lift stubborn bits. A water dampened cloth will be ok, just don't squeeze it or rub too hard. Little bit of liquid soap on the cloth takes greasy finger prints off.
(I'm in IT support, I do this stuff all the time)
