Question Mosaic - matching brightness

I'm playing with trying some mosiacs with my ST7.

Anyone have recommendations on how to normalise the image brightnesses between mosaics such that they match nicely?

I know how to manually adjust each layer using levels & curves until it looks right, but I think there must be a more exact way, a way to use levels to select black and white points in one image and then another image to match them to?

Using photoshop CS3.

I'm only dealing with grayscale at this stage.

Thanks,
Roger.

Forget it - I've answered my own question - I found the "Auto-Blend Layers" feature, and WOW! .. it just works! amazing. Very easy.
