Due to not being used (and lack of use was noticed by my wife) I'm selling my LXD55 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The telescope is about 5-6 years old now (I'm it's second owner) and is in good condition. The LXD55 mount itself was service by Bintel in Camberwell back in 2008, and has only been out a couple of times since (the 10" Lightbridge has been the preferred telescope of use).
On offer is the Meade LXD55 GEM with 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain OTA and with the Meade Autostar Controller. The telescope specs are Focal length - 2000 mm, Aperture - 8" (203mm), and has a Focal ratio - f/10. Accessories included with this are the Dew Strap, Dew Shield, Bintel 8 x 50m Right Angle Finder Scope, Meade Diagonal 1.25", and Meade T-Adapter. This also comes with a 1.25" 26mm Super Plossl eye piece. The telescope comes in the wooden case, the LXD55 mount in the aluminium case, and the other accessories in the plastic case/toolbox (see pictures). Not photographed but included is the manual and some printed notes from the internet for reference.
Two discernible problems that need mentioning are:
1- A replacement bolt being used on the Tripod, in place of a broken screw - a practical fix.
2- The Meade hand controller does suffer from sticky/hard to push keypad, but I am aware of a couple of workarounds.
My preference is to sell as a complete set up @ $750.00 (+ postage)
However I am open to consider a separation of:
A - 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain OTA, Dew Shield, Dew Strap, Bintel 8 x 50m Right Angle Finder Scope, Meade 1.25" Diagonal, Meade T-Adapter, and the 1.25" 26mm Super Plossl eye piece for $550 (+ postage)
B - LXD55 Mount & Tripod with Meade Controller, and the rest of the accessories (not the ones mentioned in A above) for the mount only, for $200 (+ postage)
