Messier 23

Not much to say about this image -- it's just M23 and a few friends.

That's so weird. As soon as I opened the picture I though "hey! That looks like what I'm processing right now!" I did a 3 panel widefield in sagittarius and I was sure I've seen this bit somewhere.

Now that's a gorgeous shot. Love the colours. I'm just glad mine look similar Not way as deep as that one though.

Fabulous image Tom. You always get the stars looking just great.

Do you use deconvolution or steer clear of it? It can sharpen things up but it can
easily damage the stars natural look of a softer outer ring.

Greg.

Great image to swim about Tom. Love how pinpoint the stars are in this image and the huge field of view.
One question: Dif spikes are they software generated or fine cordage over the end of the APO? They look good on this image.

I've never have been able to get deconvolution to work well for me and the type of targets that I image. Maybe if I had a big RC and just shot galaxies, but not for star fields and dusty targets. Likely it is just that I don't know how to use deconvolution!!

These are software generated. String works much better, but in this image the software spikes add just enough "bling" so I think they are ok.

Another nice shot Tommy

I am trying to work out when you use it and when you don't. Definitely light touch with it as the most noticeable thing about it is it robs the stars of the outer softer halo that can make an image look a lot nicer.

Beautiful work Tom.
I'm not a fan of software spikes but like you say, it works alright here.
