NGC4039 image by Lars processing by Greg

Some very nice data from Lars using his 12.5 inch RCOS, ST8XME and Paramount ME.

Processing by me using Photoshop.

Processing

Thanks Greg

That is certainly a much better effort than my original attempt at processing the image stack.

I think a bit more data is in order. The stars are still at bit 'fat'.

Room for improvement, but I like it. Seeing looks like it played havoc. Need to more selective on what subs you include in the stack I suspect. Well done guys.

I recon that's a great effort guys, some really nice res in there, not sure that the stars are that fat really Lars..? it's a small FOV so the scale effect plays a roll here too..?

Nice work

Mike

Nice image and nice long tails, well captured and well processed. The dynamic duo.

Well there are 2 solutions to that. One is to image when the seeing is great - not such a great solution. The other is to use deconvolution on the luminance and perhaps even the colours. That needs to occur on the master Lum, master red etc.

Also not sure if you used flats as there were a couple of dust donuts that were resistive to processing. Fresh flats would be handy if you did. They vary over time.

Greg.

I thought it was good data, sensational data really.

Yes, tossing out weak subs is hard to do but you are better off doing that.

Greg.

Hehe, I don't mind processing good data. Lots of fun.

Thanks Marc. Lars did a good job of acquiring good data and that makes the processing relatively easy.

Greg.
