What the heck, here it is - M4!

Hi all!

I've been playing with RegiStax5 rather than DSS and have finally got a version of M4 that I'm happy with. Although the core isn't as bright as I would've liked, you get a hint of it in this photo.

Hopefully on Friday night I'll be able to give it another try and maybe get some longer exposures to add to this image.

This image is 1 x 49 second sub ("elephant 1" through to "elephant 60" isn't as accurate as I thought! ) and 12 x 30s subs, all at ISO800.

not bad mate. considering all your trials and tribulations ive added a photo taken with my 10" and 40d, i belive was 5 minute subs ISO 800

You are well on your way. What you have to do next is down load PHD and move to longer guided subs.

You have the basics for sure and the image is very good. How did you process the subs?

I processed the images by firstly stacking in RegiStax5 and then playing with levels/curves/saturation in Photoshop.

I have a copy of PHD guiding but have yet to hook everything up. Time has been a bit of a problem as I've been doing an Astronomy course through the University of Central Lancashire which has only recently finished as it's almost the end of the northern hemisphere academic year.

However, I was playing with PHD last night on my PC using a webcam and tracking a button on my footy jersey (old Bamain one) as a pretend star. It was intersting watching the little box follow the button around as I moved!

I'm hoping that this weekend I might be able to at least get it all hooked up and give it a try. Time will tell. And this time I'll try to track something better than my buttons!!!
