Crux/Carina widefield attempt

Hi all,

I was camping down near Mt Barney (Qld/NSW border) last weekend, and had clear dark-ish skies, at least relative to Brisbane. I had a Pentax 50mm f/1.4 lens on loan from a friend, so decided to try a widefield with the Coal Sack and Eta Carinae. This was 11 x 20 sec exposures using a tripod-mounted K100D (i.e. no tracking), stacked in DSS. The result is very ordinary compared to most of the images posted here, but I don't have many opportunities to post in the Deep Space forum so here it is...

Cheers,
Stephen

Thanks for the comments Carl, Mark and Nettie. As I said it's not a very good image, but it was fun getting out there and capturing it. My aim was to get the Coal Sack, and so getting Eta Carinae and all those open clusters was a bonus.

Thanks again!

Cheers,
Stephen
