Bit of a fish

Pam & I went to Weipa for the weekend to get a bit of fishing in, + I wanted to catch up with a few people I haven't seen for many yrs.

Pam got the biggest fish of the weekend. 75cm Barra......

Lovely fish!!! We spent 4 years in Weipa, and I never caught one single barra. My sons only ever caught 2, and they were pretty small.
I once went out with a friend up the Mission River - he had a reputation for catching fish. His name was Chester! I used his bait, his tackle and threw my line just about on top of where he threw it. He caught 18 fish, I caught NOT ONE AAAGGGGHHHH
BUT..... My sons caught 2 huge gropers when there - one at Mission River Bridge and one at Lorim Point Jetty. They were massive We let them go though. I reckon each one would have weighed 500 lbs and be 70 years old
Ah Weipa, great for fishing

Between us Graham we caught;
7 Barra, 5 Mangrove Jack, 2 FingerMark, & 1 Trevally.

That was in 3.5hrs in a boat up the Hay River. About 40mins motoring from the Shiploader. (Lorim Point)

We kept 3 Barra, 2 Jacks & 1 Fingermark. All the rest went back.
My biggest Barra was 68cm.

Was the first time I've been back to Weipa for 10yrs & first trip ever for Pam. I spent quite a while up there working on mine expansions.....
